Happy New Year everybody! We wish you all the best of health in 2025 and that all your plans and wishes are going to be fulfilled. We would also like to thank you for staying with us and playing on Cavetale every week. Regardless if you joined our regular events, purchased something on our store, or built someting with us, you all did your part to make this another great year for everybody on the Cavetale server, full with memorable experiences.
As for us, we were busy this year as well, so we would like to review a few of the things that were added to the server in 2024.
Items
We added a new type of item that can be upgraded by combining two into one. Furthermore, they collect XP when you use them and allow unlocking perks to make them more powerful. Some of these are brand new. Others have existed but were allowed to be made more powerful by upgrading and leveling them up.
- The Hasty Pickaxe can mine faster than any other pickaxe in a radius.
- The Spleef Shovel clears desert sands and topsoil with ease.
- The Tree Chopper cuts down huge trees all in one go.
- The Finder locates ancient and mysterious structures, especially in the Mining World.
A few entirely new items were also added, which can be obtained by looting dungeons or participating in events.
- The Scuba Helmet allows breathing under water.
- The Miner Helmet lets you see in the dark.
- The Yardstick and Dividers now show fancy outlines instead of flat blocks.
- The Pumpkin Hookshot lets you zip around the world or pick up items from afar, and build with greater range.
Features
Then there were many new features in several different areas of the server.
- We revamped all our Skills trees, making Mining, Combat and Archery even more exciting.
- The chess board at spawn lets you compete against each other or the AI.
- The Quidditch minigame started as an April Fool’s Day prank, but like so often, became a repeated weekend event.
- The Main Menu which is still being worked on, available with the
/menucommand or by clicking outside of your player inventory, allows feature discovery and gives access without typing commands. - The Live Map (https://cavetale.com/map) was dearly missed, so this year we finally made our own, which shows all our survival worlds, no matter what server they run on, and also lets you find players and follow global chat.
- Our Cavetale Dungeons got Trial Spawners with better loot than ever, turning dungeon hunting into a popular sport on Cavetale.
With all of this in mind and probably a few more things that we forgot, we look forward to experiencing 2025 with you. The update to the latest version 1.21.4 is taking a bit longer than usual, and there are technical reasons for that, but we promise that we will make this happen as soon as it becomes viable.
